Royal Family KIDS Anchorage camp began in 2005 with 40 children from the foster care system in Anchorage with about as many volunteers.
Today the Anchorage camp serves between 60 and 70 children with nearly 100 full time camp volunteers. Those campers come from Anchorage and as far away as Bethel Alaska.
From this first camp, two other RFK camps were birthed. One on the Kenai Peninsula and one in the the MatSu Valley.
Out of the trust built with the Office of Children’s Services there are now upwards of 150 kids ages 6 – 11 in Alaska’s foster care system who experience the love of people like they may have never experienced.
To be part of the Anchorage camp as a volunteer, applications will be available on-line after January 1. Besides the application, you will need to go through an interview, background check, reference checks, and 16 hours of training.
Camper applications will be available on-line after March 1.
Campers are between the ages of 6 – 11 and part of the OCS system.
